Product Overview:

Dantotsu is a broad-spectrum systemic insecticide by Sumitomo Chemical India Ltd, with the active ingredient Clothianidin 50% WDG. Feature Details
Technical Name / Active Ingredient Clothianidin 50% WDG (Water Dispersible Granule)
Product Type / Formulation Systemic insecticide, broad-spectrum; formulated as WDG (Clothianidin)
Mode(s) of Action Oral + dermal uptake by pests; acts as agonist at acetylcholine receptors (post-synaptic), interfering with feeding, sucking, oviposition. Systemic action → distributes within plant.
Target Crops Sugarcane, Paddy (Rice), Cotton, Tea, Grapes
Target Pests Mealybugs, Jassids, Aphids, Whiteflies, Termites; pests in paddy such as Brown Plant Hopper; Tea mosquito bug (Helopeltis Theivora); etc.

Application Timing / Method Apply at early infestation of pests; spray or drenching depending on crop (e.g. soil drench in sugarcane, spray in paddy/tea/cotton); good plant coverage; evening or morning application preferred.
Special Features Green-triangle chemistry (comparatively safe when used per label); long-lasting control; systemic movement helps protect new growth; effective on both sucking and some chewing pests.

Benefits:

  • Long-Lasting Control - Provides extended pest suppression, so fewer applications are needed over the crop’s vulnerable period.
  • Broad-Spectrum Efficacy - Controls a wide range of sucking pests (mealybugs, jassids, aphids, whiteflies, etc.) and also termites across crops like paddy, cotton, sugarcane, tea, and grapes.
  • Systemic Activity - Gets absorbed and moves within the plant, protecting new growth and offering protection even in areas hard to reach by spray.
  • Rapid Action - Works quickly by stopping feeding, sucking, or egg laying of pests, which helps reduce immediate crop damage.
